Do you drink energy drinks? If yes, what is your favorite? How long does the effect of those drinks last? After two or three hours of drinking those, do you feel drained out?
pretty girl, energy drinks are nasty. don't use them!!!!!!! sorry my darlin' but you got me on one of my pet peves. they contain huge amounts of sugar, caffeine and god knows what else. Most of the stuff they are made of is laboratory produced chemicals and very unhealthy. They have done studies of teens and 20 something women who have consumed sodas and large amounts of them and they have the bones of old women. Do you want to take boniva at 25. Trust me, I take that at 52 and don't like it. The chemicals and so forth in that crap leaches the caffeine from our bones. In other words it is dissolved and disappears. Replacing it is a lot less fun then losing it.
More to the point, what is the purpose of ingesting the stuff. If we need to be revved up that much is it worth it? Getting the right amount of rest and mixing work with relaxation will help us last longer and get more accomplished. If we need an energy boost, grab some trail mix or some fruit. Granted, we won't get that nice rush but we'll be tickin' while our buds are wound lickin'.
Strong black coffee is a lot cheaper and may actually be good for us. Ditto with tea. If we have to stay up all night they are much less damaging choices.
Sorry, if I sound like a mom. One of my best friends lets her eight year old drink red bull and amp but won't let her touch coffee as "it's bad." I'm like look at the label numb nuts. Let's see coffee, natural beans and water. Red bull corn syrup sugar, and a bunch of crap i can't spell and won't try to pronounce.
I think on the scale of stuff that will harm us, energy drinks are pretty benign, but why bother? The only person who benefits from our purchase is the company that manufactures the stuff.
I find coffee generally much more effective than energy drinks, double espresso will hve you alert (may be too much soo) for hours. I like Red Bull for the taste but only very occasionally, and then mixed with vodka as a going out drink. I do not pretend it's healthy in any way, nor do I have it often than may be a drink a month or even less.
There are a few options, theres' caffeinated water, think from Think Geek, but you can google it, if you don't like coffee this is not a bad way to go. The two times I had to pull all nighters in college I took ephedrine pills, just a single one and it worked fine. I know people think it's the evil of all evils, I disagree, but you got to be smart about it and take it in very strong need and only take one, not 10 like some stupid kids who then have a heart attack and everyone blames the drug.
So I'd recommend coffee and caffeinated water in that order, an occasional Red Bull won't ham you but the fact is it's darn expensive really.
I'm with you Holly, I really disapprove of energy drinks. If I'm not mistaken, they contain nicotine. And they're said to have the ability to cause heart problems. Too, the energy boost doesn't last long, so people are better off drinking coffee or consuming candy, fruit or some other healthy snack.
i had not heard the niccotene thing. maybe that's why the heavy smokers I know love them so much. ick. they also have that "fractionated corn syrup" my son's mistake in them. vodka and red bull? i mean, pardon my vast creeping ignorance, but doesn't the crap in the red bull cancel the alcohol buzz out?
Actually, vodka and red bull, while a popular drink, has been called one of the most dangerous drinks of our time, and has been banned in several bars across the country. The energy stimulant of the red bull, mixed with the depressant of the vodka, can make your heart stop. Imagine trying to run a marathon in that state of mind right after you wake up, when your muscles don't respond right away. thats what happens. Your heart tries to race and go to sleep at the same time, and it can stop your hearts beating; which we all know is vital for living a long and healthy life. so, drink it if you want, but I refuse to.
this goes for all redbull and alcohol mixtures. Whether its a jager bomb, or a jager blast, or red bull and vodka, or red bull and rum. Alcohol is a depressant, red bull is an excellerent. Try tying your legs together and sprinting if you want to do an experiement with what happens when you mix those too together.
thanks for the tip. i'll stick with my arbor mist. it has no class but it won't kill me.
I actually drink an energy drink at least once a week, usually drink about 2 or 3 of them a week. I don't drink red bull however, I drink monster drinks. I'm not too fond of the red bull taste, so I stick with the monster drinks.
True they are probably not healthy for me, and when I get the chance to serve myself a cup of coffee I definitely feel better, but as I can drink a cold drink fast better than I can drink a hot drink I stick to the energy drink.
agree with post two. I'll never ingest that stuff.
I've tried a Monster. It tasted weird, maybe I'll try a sip again. I usually eat junk food or drink a really good coffee mixed with caramel or something, and then add shots of espresso. I'll go to Starbucks and get mochas, lattes, stuff like that and have like 3 or 4 shots of espresso in it.
I very occationally will drink a rock star
what is a rock star? I mean other than mick jagger, or whoever?
It's this energy drink that has like 200 mg of cafeen
agreed with post two, and others that've disapproved of them. no thanks.
I drink a monster every six months or so. Red Bull tastes bad to me to
I personally haven't found an energy drik I can stand the taste of. I've tried all of the ones mentioned here: Rock Star, Red Bull, and Monster, and dislike them. I also dislike the feeling that such a huge intake of caffeine gives me. As Wildebrew said in a post an age back, I will use a caffeine pill every now and again, but only one, and only in major need.
At work we sell these things called five-hour energy shots. I tried one the other day. I don't like the taste, but it didn't give me the jitters like other stuff does. It doesn't even have caffeine on the label. But it seemed to work. Still, because it taste gross, I don't plan to drink it, either.
Yes, I also drink the 5-hour energy drinks sometimes, although, like other energy drinks, they are expensive.
I've never drank that stuff, unless Gaderaid counts, and I don't like that either. I once had a Red Bull flavoured cartridge ( a freeby, thankfully) with my electronic cigarette, and if they really taste like that, please keep it far away from me! If anything, I'll take a coffee, or as been suggested, a double espresso. If that doesn't keep you up I don't know what will! lol There are some much safer options than the common energy drinks available at

And then there's Teeccino, which doesn't taste like coffee and doesn't have caffeine, but which tends to boost energy all the same.

IHerb also sells it. Personally, ever since I started taking Women's Answer by Rainbow Light (sold at IHerb and other places), I've had a huge burst of energy, so much so that I've vowed to stay on it for as long as possible. It's a multivitamin and I can't even explain how much it's changed me. So yeah, really good stuff. I've heard that chocolate also helps boost energy, though it's never really effected me like that. I've tried caffeine pills but I don't like how the ones in America are 200mg instead of 100mg like the ones in Europe. That's far too much to be injesting at once. I think coffee is much better anyway. Even if you have two cups, the fist one still takes awhile to go through your system while you're drinking it and before you start the next one.
I drink Monster, but mainly for the taste now. I really don't feel much when I drink it, no jitteriness or anything like that, and no real rush. If I haven't slept the night before and am in serious need of a caffeine boost, I'll go for a double-shot of expresso and a lot more coffee. monster tastes good, but that's about it.
I drink red bull, monster, amp, all of them! not all at once but at various points. just depends on the mood, so yah! love them!
Personally I've never even tasted any of these drinks myself. Maybe I've had a sip of red bull once but it was pointless as I didn't care much for the taste. Sometimes one cup of coffee or a coke are enough to give me the jitters, so I can definitely do without a so called energy drink.
